Kimpton’s Monaco Portland Hosts Drag BINGO on World AIDS Day
Red Ribbon Party To Benefit Cascade AIDS Project


PORTLAND, Ore., November 22, 2010 – After crowds gather downtown to raise awareness for HIV/AIDS with a candlelight vigil, they are invited to raise funds for Cascade Aids Project (CAP) with a game of Drag BINGO. On Wednesday, December 1st beginning at 7:00 p.m., Kimpton’s Hotel Monaco Portland will host a Red Ribbon after-party with Drag Queen BINGO, karaoke, a live auction and more.

“We encourage the community to join Kimpton’s Portland properties in the fight against HIV,” said Craig Thompson, General Manager of the Hotel Monaco Portland. “With Poison Waters as our host, it’s guaranteed to be a fun atmosphere while we fundraise.” Admission is free and includes complimentary appetizers from Red Star Tavern & Roast House, in addition to cocktails made with locally-distilled Liquid Vodka and local beers from the Oregon Brewers Guild for a $5 suggested donation. All proceeds from the evening will be donated to CAP, Oregon’s largest AIDS service organization.

Auction and raffle items include weekend stays at hotels across the country, many including airfare or train tickets. Locations include Miami, New York, San Diego and more.

In Portland, there is an opportunity to give with Kimpton’s “Cocktails For A Cure” Campaign from now until December 1st. As part of Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants annual Red Ribbon Campaign, both Red Star Tavern & Roast House and Pazzo Ristorante are offering specialty cocktails created by master mixologist Jacques Bezuidenhout that raise $1 per drink for CAP.

About Cascade AIDS Project
Founded in 1983 by two staff, Cascade AIDS Project (CAP) has remained Oregon’s leading and largest AIDS service organization for a quarter-century. CAP provides HIV supporting housing and care services, youth and family programming, prevention services, community education and influence public policy and legislation. Currently CAP has 47 staff and in the last year provided HIV/AIDS education and prevention services to 18,307 people; coordinated wrap-around support services for 3,253 men, women, and children affected by and infected with HIV/AIDS ; and provided direct housing and housing-related services to 575 individuals and families with HIV/AIDS.
